Do you have patients that can benefit from a change in their nutrition? Do your patients understand the progression of their diagnosis in easy to understand words and understand how they can make a difference? Do they need to learn about the harm caused by the continued consumption of sugar, processed foods, alcohol, poor quality fats, cigarettes, etc? If so, I am here to help them understand these issues as an adjunct to your professional recommendations and treatment. We know that as a specialist, your time is limited and in high demand. Even if you believe nutrition is important, you may not always have the time available for continued support in this area. I am here to support the treatment plan you have put in motion with the patient’s ultimate success the goal.
As a Nutrition Coach / Consultant for your patients, my job is to hear their health concerns and respond with empathy so I can best understand their journey, including their pains, fears, and successes. No two treatments are alike as each person is an individual, which requires different paths to improved health in a sustainable way. This is not an overnight process and will take some time and individualized education to make change permanent.
How is this done? Through discussion as it applies to each particular client, we share and explain what is happening inside their body and teach how to make permanent effective change in their nutrition choices, based on where the client is and where they want to go. It is as personalized as it gets. As each patient is an individual, so should be their nutrition plans. Better Me works through the facts of each client first, then decide on diet protocol and if appropriate, macronutrient distribution and specifically which foods will improve their situation and which to avoid and why. Through regular meetings, logging food, review, and discussion, macronutrients and foods are adjusted to maximize health, energy, mood, weight loss, as well as other symptoms they may be experiencing. Micronutrients are also discussed and whenever possible, we want them to eat their micronutrients rather than supplementing them.
Session quantity is determined per patient. Some might need a little guidance and some may want to dive deep. We are prepared to listen and proceed in a way that will be most successful by starting at a point that will be most beneficial and acceptable for them and where they are now. Are they a go-getter or are they really resistant to change? The ability to approach each client and meet them where they are is critical and I strive to achieve that with each and every client.
Better Me at 5280 uses HIPAA compliant coaching software to maintain the integrity necessary when working with physicians and other health professionals and respecting our client’s privacy. Our goal is to communicate with the referring physician in a manner that is suitable to their practice and mutual benefit of the client/patient.
I am a Certified Nutrition Therapist Master from the accredited Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, with over 530 hours in nutrition-specific learning to master the skills necessary to thrive in the field of holistic nutrition. Prior to school, I spent 38 years as part owner of Tony’s Meats & Market as well as created and operated the off-premise catering company from 2008-2017, giving me the edge over most nutritionists when it comes to making food delicious. I supplied the Denver Bronco’s nutrition program from 2004-2015, working directly with the team dietician.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, I know what it takes to make food delicious. I create my own nutritious and delicious recipes and share them online. I know how to teach others to make their own great meals in a short period of time. I teach a livable way of food prep—nobody wants to spend endless hours in the kitchen. As a person who has had many health issues related to the progression of stress, I really get it and understand the path back to health and the patience it takes to get there. After all, I lived it and reversed the trajectory of my own health and wellness.
I strive to help your patients achieve wellness through your medical knowledge and guidance, my nutrition knowledge and coaching, and their determination.
